This is an old photo of the inner main spar fittings.  For those of you who are new the large hole is where the landing gear rotates.

As you can see we tested this parts using aluminum to save weight.   However, I was never sure if the part was strong enough when using a high grade of aluminum that could still be welded.

Unless someone want a set we are going to go bask to 4130, .090 steel and look for other ways to lighten them without compromising integrity.

QUESTION:  What would you do different or changes you would like to see.   …or maybe you tried something and it worked.
